FAQs

I am new to barre. What should I expect?

Be prepared for a fun and challenging full body workout. Barre fitness is extremely effective in toning the arms, sculpting the thighs, lifting the seat, and strengthening the core. Classes are choreographed to upbeat music in a motivating group environment. Instructors teach to all different fitness levels, and provide many modifications so you can choose your level.

What do I need to bring to class?

All you need is a water bottle, yoga or dance wear, and grip socks or bare feet (We have many different styles of grip socks for sale at the studio). All equipment for class, including mats, is provided for you.

I am out of shape. Do I need to get into better shape before coming to class?

Definitely not! Our classes are accessible to all fitness levels! If you’re looking for a place to start your fitness journey, barreMADE is very welcoming and motivating! We focus on functional movement rather than the shape of our bodies.

I am new to fitness. What class should I start with?

If you haven’t moved your body in a while, it’s best to start with our less intense classes. Our lightest class is Essentrics®, followed by pilatesFLOW. For barre, either barreCLASSIC or barre45 are great to start with. barreLESS is our most intense classes, so we suggest trying out a couple of the lighter classes before trying it out.

Do I have to be flexible to attend class?

Not at all! Our classes are for all levels, and are a great tool for increasing flexibility! So if you are not very flexible, come join us!

Is there parking available at the studio?

Yes! There is free 2 hour street parking around the building on both sides of the street.

Is barre safe for pre/postnatal bodies?

Barre is a fantastic workout for pregnant and new moms! Since barre is low impact (make sure to stick to the low impact modifications throughout class), it is safe for both pre and post natal bodies. Post natal bodies with abdominal separation will want to avoid any crunching movements, but all abdominal work can be modified with our knowledgable instructors’ help.

Does the Two-Week Unlimited Intro Pass start on the day of purchase, or the day of your first class?

The Intro Offer starts on the day of your first class! Once you purchase the pass, the purchase date will be set as the start date UNTIL you book your first class. Once you book in for a class, the system will recalculate your start date to the day of your first booked class.

Why do my muscles shake during barre class?

When your muscles start to shake, it is a sign of muscle fatigue. This is what you want! Barre fitness allows you to isolate each muscle group by holding contractions for an extended period of time, which builds muscle strength and endurance. So embrace the shake!
